Julieta Venegas

Julieta Venegas

Mexican singer/songwriter Julieta Venegas will take the stage at City National Grove of Anaheim on October 26 in support of her latest release, Algo Sucede.

In the late 90’s, Venegas established herself as a Latin alternative artist with her debut album, Aquí. In addition to writing & singing, Venegas played accordion, piano and guitar on the album. Her second album, Bueninvento was nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards.

Julieta released her third album, Sí, in 2003 with producers Coti Sorokin and Cachorro López. Six of the album’s songs were co-written with Sorokin, resulting in a significant change from her earlier music. Sí had broad appeal, memorable and melodic beats and an upbeat sound. Also, unlike her previous work, Sí went triple platinum in Mexico, topping the album chart there and breaking into the Top 5 in the United States Latin album chart. The success of Sí led to a Best Rock Solo Vocal Album Latin Grammy Award for Venegas in 2004, plus three MTV Music Video Awards.

For her next album, Limón y Sal, Venegas once again worked with producers Coti Sorokin and Cachorro López, and once again came up with a broadly appealing, hit-laden pop/rock album. Venegas continued to command heavy airplay for the string of singles from Limón y Sal and picked up a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album and Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. In 2010, she released Otra Cosa, which received Gold status in Mexico. Venegas gave birth to her daughter in August 2010 and began work on her sixth album, Los Momentos, which was released in 2013.
