Colombian musical groups La Sonora Dinamita and Sonora Tropicana perform at the City National Grove of Anaheim’s Drive-In OC on November 15th. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, October 30th, at 10:00 AM via AXS.com. One ticket per vehicle, each passenger must have a safety belt (maximum of seven passengers per vehicle).

La Sonora Dinamita is one of the first Cumbia groups to reach international success and is credited with popularizing the genre throughout Latin America and the world. Initially formed in 1960 in Cartagena de Indias under the direction of bandleader Lucho Argaín, the group disbanded in 1963 but re-formed in 1975 under the direction of Julio Ernesto Estrada "Fruko" Rincón, the artistic director of the Discos Fuentes record label. In 1981, the group released its first successful recordings, the classic "Mi Cucu." While the group's lineup has changed, it has always featured a strong female vocalist to accompany its ten-piece brass instrumentation, including Margarita Vargas (la Diosa de La Cumbia), Mélida Yará (La India Meliyará), Vilma Díaz (La Diva de La Cumbia), Susana Velasquez along with other vocalists.

Formed in the city of Medellin, Colombia, in 1989, la Sonora Tropicana was eager to present a Tropical sound that could compete with the unique Colombian sounds. Created by Mr. Abel De Luna and the musical direction of Ray Carreño la Sonora Tropicana comes to life with female and male vocalists. With a career spanning over 25 years, Sonora Tropicana has been nominated for various awards, participated in TV programs, and performed before massive audiences at several events (Mexico D.F., Monterrey, Chicago), plus won the Furia Musical Award for Best Tropical Group two years in a row. Hit songs include “Tengo que Colgar,” and “No Te Creas Tan Importante,” among many others.
